GitLab 也要跟著 AI 潮流，結合 AI 功能

AI 大戰，幾乎每個服務商都在嘗試跟上，GitLab 終於也拋出一些消息了。

要說 2023 什麼最夯？當然是 AI 了！

自從 ChatGPT 引爆這場 AI 軍備競賽後，我們幾乎可以看到每個服務商都在嘗試跟上，甚至如果服務商自己尚未提供 AI 功能，它們的使用者們多半也都按耐不住，會自已動手嘗試實作。

像是筆者自己就有做了一個實驗《實驗在 GitLab Merge Request 之 CI Pipeline 中使用 CodeGPT 提供 Code review 建議》

當然其他的 DevOps 或 CI/CD 工具供應商就更不用說了，大家都在參與這場軍備競賽。

所以等啊等，我們終於等到 GitLab 正式拋出消息了。

GitLab 原廠 Blog 在2023年5月4日發表了一篇文章《GitLab details AI-assisted features in the DevSecOps platform》，由 CEO Sid Sijbrandij 宣布 GitLab 未來將會將 AI 功能運用在三個方向。

  1. AI for Developer Teams
  2. AI for Security and Operations
  3. AI for everyone

從這次原廠釋出的消息來看，可說是不出意外，GitLab 對於 AI 工具的著眼點與其他競爭者雷同，計畫透過 AI 提供各種輔助建議，包含 Code Review、Merge Request、程式開發、Security 與 Vulnerability⋯⋯，藉此幫助開發者與團隊能更良好的解決問題。

最後，其實在 GitLab 15.11 Release 時，GitLab 就已經有提到他們正在 Beta 測試 Code Suggestions 功能，但僅限於 gitlab.com 的 Premium 與 Ultimate 的使用者運用。

Every day, millions of developers use GitLab to contribute code. In February, we launched a closed Beta of this feature, and since then, we’ve been working hard to make Code Suggestions available to more developers. During Beta, Code Suggestions is free for all Ultimate and Premium customers. Group admins can enable this setting with a new group-level control. Depending on the prompt, the extension either provides entire code snippets, like generating functions, or completes the current line.
